An Interesting Match-Up - QPR (Article for Huddersfield Town's Official Matchday Programme)

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

MARK WARBURTON’S MEN HEAD TO THE JOHN SMITH'S STADIUM FOLLOWING A SOLID START TO THE SEASON. THEY VERY MUCH LOOK TO BE ON COURSE TO REPLICATE THE FORM THEY DISPLAYED IN THE LAST CAMPAIGN.

Warburton has been at the helm for well over a year now and this is his second full campaign in charge of the Rs. They lost their two top goal scorers in the summer, meaning that there are some goal scoring boots left to be filled this time out. Eberechi Eze is lighting up South London and the Premier League with Crystal Palace and Jordan Hugill is now plying his trade with promotion prospects Norwich.

This meant that the scoring attention and pressure was turned toward the new boy, Lyndon Dykes. The Australian born Scotland international has been in decent form so far this season since his arrival from Livingston this summer. His first four came from the penalty spot so far, but he is proving to be the man for the pressure situation, becoming the first player since Terry Venables to score his first four goals from the spot. He broke his open play duck recently, netting in the 2-1 defeat at Brentford. Dykes has also enjoyed recent international success with Scotland as he helped them secure qualification to their first major tournament since 1998.

Bright Osayi-Samuel has also been able to provide a lot of excitement for the QPR fans watching from home this season. The 22-year-old, Nigerian born winger has completed more dribbles than any other player in the Championship so far this campaign and he will be hoping that he can continue to turn his defenders inside out.
