Burnley vs Arsenal Predictions
Burnley and Arsenal are both buoyed by recent strong results against Leicester. The inability of both teams to keep clean sheets, coupled with Burnley’s run of draws, should see this one end in a score draw.
Burnley have drawn their last 4 home matches (Premier League).
Burnley have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 5 home matches (Premier League).
Burnley have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 home matches against Arsenal (all competitions).
Arsenal are undefeated in 14 of their last 15 matches against Burnley (all competitions).
Arsenal have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 matches (all competitions).
Arsenal haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 5 matches (Premier League).
Head-to-Head Arsenal have the historical edge over Burnley, winning 54 and drawing 22 times in 110 games between the sides. Burnley have won 34 times. Burnley have won just one of the last 15 games between the two sides, but this did come the last time they met. The game at The Emirates in December saw a late Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang own-goal clinch the three points for Burnley against a 10-men Arsenal. It was their first victory against the Gunners since 2009. Burnley Form
Burnley are on a run of just one win in their last nine matches in all competitions, but their only league losses in that period were against Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham. Last weekend, they were on the wrong side of a Tottenham drubbing as they shipped four goals without return away from home. Their last game was a 1-1 draw against top-four chasing Leicester City with an early Matej Vydra cancelled out before half time. Burnley held on for the point and it mean they have drawn four of their last six Premier League games and notched up four draws in a row at home. Burnley have only kept one clean sheet in their last nine home games in all competitions, too. Burnley Injuries and Team News Johan Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady have a chance of returning to the squad, but Ashley Barnes will still be out for the weekend. Matej Vydra had gone over 1,200 Premier League without a goal and should retain his spot in the starting XI after ending the drought. Arsenal Form
Arsenal have mustered up some good form of late. They had the luxury of no midweek game this week and will be fresh for the trip to Burnley. A 1-0 loss to Man City in the Premier League was sandwiched between Europa League progression against Benfica. Despite conceding two goals to the Portuguese side in the second leg, the Gunners secure qualification through a Kieran Tierney goal and a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double. On the back of the Europa League win, Arsenal secured three points at Leicester last weekend as they won 3-1 with goals from David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe. The win against Leicester was the first time Arsenal have beaten a team in the top-three away from home in six years. Despite this recent up turn in form, they have lost three of their last six league games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in the last five. Arsenal Injuries and Team News Midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe remains Arsenal’s only injury concern, but he may be fit enough to make the bench for this game.
Verdict
I'm tipping Burnley to extend their run of draws at home. Both teams to score is the best bet with Arsenal struggling to keep clean sheets.
