Man City vs Man United Predictions
City's winning run meets the unbeaten away record of United, and something has to give. City’s impervious form cannot be ignored.
Man City have won 21 matches in a row (all competitions).
Man City have scored 55 goals in their 21-game winning run (all competitions).
Man City have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches (Premier League).
Man United are undefeated in their last 21 away matches (Premier League).
Man United have failed to win in their last 3 matches (all competitions).
Man United haven’t beaten a ‘Big 6’ team this season (Premier League).
Head-to-Head United have the historical edge over rivals City, winning 75 and drawing 53 times of the 183 games between the sides. City have won 55 times. The last meeting in the Premier League in December brought a 0-0 draw. The sides also meet in the EFL Cup semi-final in January with John Stones and Fernandinho scoring in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford. Man City Form
City are in impervious form and on track to break the European record for successive wins. Unbeaten in 28 and with 21 straight victories in all competitions, there’s no reason why this shouldn’t continue. Their winning run has included 55 goals scored and just eight conceded, although they have kept only one clean sheet in the last five games. City's last two games have been at home and both resulted in hard-fought victories. Last Saturday, they beat West Ham 2-1 with defensive duo John Stones and Ruben Dias scoring. They followed that with a 4-1 victory over Wolves on Tuesday. City were pegged back after benefitting from an early own goal, but turned on the style in the final 10 minutes as Gabriel Jesus scored a brace and Riyad Mahrez added to the four-goal tally. Man City Injuries and Team News Nathan Ake remains a long-term injury issue, but the centre-back is closing in on a return. Riyad Mahrez has been in great form for City at the Etihad, having a direct involvment in 30 goals in his last 38 games. Man United Form
Man United seemed to have second place sewn up, but a run of poor results is dragging them into the fight for top 4. They have drawn the last three games 0-0, which is the first time in six years they have done so. The draws at home to Real Sociedad and away to Chelsea and Crystal Palace have made for miserable viewing for United supporters. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will be buoyed by a run of four clean sheets in five games and that they are now unbeaten in 21 successive away league games. United still haven’t recorded a victory against the ‘Big 6’ this season and five of their last six games in those contests have resulted in 0-0 draws. Man United Injuries and Team News Midfielders Paul Pogba and Juan Mata and centre-back Phil Jones are all still be out. Anthony Martial could return, although Edison Cavani’s reappearance in the squad may mean he is left on the bench. David de Gea missed out last time out for personal reasons and Dean Henderson will get a run in goal.
Verdict
I expect a City win but Man United to end their search for a goal.
